The Labrador retriever can thrive in almost any climate. They can also be prone to obesity so be careful with food and exercise. Best home situation: inside with the family. They are good with kids and other pets. Generally, Lab males are about 22 1/2 inches at the shoulder and around 60-75 pounds, while females are about 21 1/2- 23 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh around 55-70 pounds. Typically, show breed labrador lines are heavier and overall much easier going than field lines. The field line labs tend to be much more energetic and very high strung. Labrador Retriever's are very easy dogs to groom. Their short, glistening coats repel water. Additionally, they shed throughout the year with increased shedding once or twice a year.
